Hexeat

Hexeat or “6” is an experimental seat designed for Iran’s first furniture design competition ‘Creative Circle’. Inspired by mechanical tesnsegrity structures. This seat might be one of the few to implement tensegrity rules in it’s design. The main body consists of two parts, a hexagonal support and the flat bed. The support holds the flat bed in place using six carabines and ropes in tension so that no rigid body is responsible for the integrity of the flat bed. The complicated structural tension analysis was done bycomputer simulations to ensure the reliability of the structure in handling weights up to 300 kgs.
